Consoling Communities:
- honors every life and treasures the dignity inherent in each person, during every part of life's journey.
- uses the wisdom of our elders and the wealth of tradition to recover lived-compassion and renew authentic community.
- teaches individuals and communities to improve care and provide consolation along with life-affirming information and resources.
- provides effective, replicable, and 'easy to use' illness and grief support programs, education, and training in order to assist communities in creating or enhancing their own outreach services.
Consoling Communities wishes to thank...
Those whose life experience and wisdom have inspired each of us to better serve the ill and the grieving in our workplaces and neighborhoods, families and communities. We're grateful to the thousands of people who have shared their stories, helping us as we rebuild community support during illness and grief.
The people animating Consoling Communities are mothers and grandmothers, fathers and friends, neighborhood elders and workplace mentors who have passed on their 'learned intergenerational wisdom link' to teach us the 'how' of lived compassion. In their memory, we seek to renew and enliven the authentic community that once flourished in our families, workplaces, and communities.
